The Midlands based contractor has appointed Des O’Neill as its new managing director of its construction division.
Interclass, based in Wombourne, Wolverhampton, is currently celebrating its 45th year in business.
The announcement will take full effect from the 1st September 2021 with Des taking over as managing director from David Jones, who after 30 years at Interclass will continue with the company in the role of finance director.
Des started his career at Interclass back in 1995 as a trainee, before re-joining just over two years ago in June 2019 as preconstruction director.
With over 26 years industry experience and an extensive track record in construction management at a senior level, during his time away from Interclass Des worked for a number of highly regarded and successful construction companies.
In his new role, Des will oversee Interclass’ continued success, with the company expecting to report a turnover of around £30million this year, up from the £13million it achieved last year.
Under his leadership, the focus will be to continue building on Interclass’ track record within its key sectors, whilst continuing to meet the demands of key clients and framework contracts, including projects under the Constructing West Midlands Framework.
Des O’Neill, said:
“When the opportunity arose to come back to where I began my career it was a no-brainer for me. I have spent the last two years getting to know the company’s and its people again, whilst also ensuring a strong pipeline of work was coming into the business to put us in the strong position that Interclass finds itself in today.
We have a wealth of talent at Interclass and my challenge is to build on and strengthen that even further. So much of our success can be attributed to our people and over the coming years we will continue to develop and create opportunities for our workforce whilst ensuring our clients receive the highest levels of expert advice and support. I am very much looking forward to the challenge and playing my part in the future success of Interclass.”
Chairman, Chris Watkins said:
“This is the start of an exciting chapter for Interclass and was always part of our long-term plan to allow David to step back after 25 years in post. We have already witnessed the impact Des has had on the business since he re-joined and I know he has the ability and ambition to keep driving the company forward. It is with great pleasure to have Des as our managing director, especially given he started his career here all those years ago.”
He continued:
“I would also like to thank David for all his hard work and dedication he has given over the years and no doubt will continue to do so moving forward as finance director.”
Earlier this year, Interclass was shortlisted for SME of the Year at the Constructing Excellence Midlands Awards, with winners due to be announced in September.
