Building work has been completed this month on the new special educational needs (SEN) facility at The Meadows School in Oldbury for Sandwell Council.
Procured through the Constructing West Midlands framework, the £900k contract for the school extension comprises a three-classroom teaching block with supporting accommodation and circulation space.
The functionality and layout have been designed to support the expansion of the school with an increase of children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). The Meadows School is one of four SEN schools in the borough of Sandwell and the only secondary school which can meet the needs of children with PMLD including those who are bed-bound.
Des O’Neill, managing director at Interclass said: “We are delighted to have completed this significant project, with the extra classrooms allowing the school to expand to help more children in the local area.”
