Interclass has raised over £1000 for Samaritans by taking part in the ‘Samarathon’ challenge.
The Samarathon is a virtual marathon that encourages supporters to run, jog or walk a marathon at any time during the month of July. Instead of the typical 26.2 miles in one stretch, the Samarathon gave people the choice and opportunity to do it at their own pace.
As well as raising vital funds to help Samaritans continue to be here 24/7, Samarathon helps spread an important message: whatever you’re going through a Samaritan will face it with you.
Everyone who signed up received a free t-shirt featuring the Samaritans free helpline number – 116 123 and as a team we clocked up 322 miles during the month of July.
Sara Barnes, preconstruction and marketing manager at Interclass Plc, said:
“The Samaritans do an incredible job providing support to people who have nowhere else to turn. What’s great about this challenge is that it’s so flexible for people to join in around their own lifestyles…Running and walking have helped a lot with my own mental well-being so it’s been great to do this challenge whilst raising vital funds to support this charity and help Samaritans continue their amazing work to ensure they can be there, day or night, to support anyone struggling.”
Overall, the money Interclass have raised is enough to answer an additional 60 potentially lifesaving calls for help, and the overall Samarathon challenge has raised nearly £60,000 so far!
