Interclass was appointed to deliver the transformation of the High Performance Centre at Birmingham’s iconic Alexander Stadium – one of the final legacy projects of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Delivered on behalf of Birmingham City Council through the Constructing West Midlands Framework, this flagship development brings together elite-level facilities and accessible, high-quality fitness spaces to support both community health and top-tier athletic performance.

The new centre includes:

  • Creation of a brand-new 120-station public gym
  • Installation of a 30-person Spin studio
  • Modernised changing rooms throughout
  • Dedicated changing areas for outdoor sports users
  • Construction of a new entrance and reception area to improve accessibility
  • Upgrade of the indoor athletics track with a new surface and energy-efficient LED lighting

This state-of-the-art redevelopment balances the demands of a world-class sporting venue with the needs of the local community, reinforcing the legacy aims of the Commonwealth Games.
