Following the original contractor going into administration in 2021, Interclass Plc was appointed in late 2023 to take over and successfully deliver the redevelopment of a key site at Wombourne Enterprise Park. The project was re-tendered by South Staffordshire Council and Interclass was selected to bring the stalled scheme to completion.
The scope of works included the demolition of several existing buildings and structures, followed by the design and construction of a new Lidl store, a 10,000 sq ft retail unit, a light industrial unit, and the upgrade of existing commercial premises. The works also involved extensive external infrastructure, including car parking, landscaping, mains service connections, drainage, and on-site highway improvements.
Taking over a partially completed site presented several challenges. Prior to starting on site, Interclass undertook detailed surveys and investigations to assess the quality and extent of previous works. Due to the site’s location within the operational Wombourne Enterprise Park, careful coordination with surrounding businesses was essential.
