Interclass has been appointed to upgrade Whitley Depot to provide a new administration and deployment facility for Coventry City Council, becoming the constructions firm’s third project in the city this year.
The new, fit-for-purpose central hub at the London Road site, will replace existing administration buildings.
Interclass’ appointment as the main contractor for the £3.7m development, closely follows work commencing at Coundon Court School in July where Interclass are delivering a new £5m teaching block and Phase 2 works at Belgrade Theatre which started on site earlier this year.
As part of its work at Whitley Depot, Interclass has made a commitment to invest in extensive community engagement, which will include education and training opportunities for local people, with the team working at Coundon already providing support to the Council’s community resilience team.
Interclass is also engaging with local suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the building work will bring with it a local economy boost and employment opportunities.
David Jones, Managing Director of Interclass, commented:
“We are delighted to be working in Coventry, with Whitley Depot marking our third project in the city this year and second with Coventry City Council. Our recent successes demonstrate the hard work that all our teams have put in over the last few months to secure new opportunities as we continue to develop our portfolio of projects in the region.”
