A new modular classroom has completed on time ready for the start of the new school term in September 2022.
Interclass was appointed in April 2022 under the Constructing West Midlands framework to deliver the works at Minworth Junior and Infant School, a one-form entry school located in Sutton Coldfield.
During the initial PCSA period, we appointed Integra to supply the new 298m2 modular building.
Works commenced on-site in June 2022, with the project comprising the demolition of three existing portable buildings and the installation of a new modular KS1 classroom block, and reception area with all associated external works.
Whilst the building was constructed off-site, it had to be installed on a constrained site within the fully operational school. This was particularly important as the new building sat adjacent to the playground. Cranage of the modules into position was done via a mobile crane and was timed for the school holidays when staff and pupils would be absent from the school, to further reduce disruption and allow them to be safely installed.
As part of the project was delivered during term-time, careful consideration was given to timings and traffic management to ensure minimal disruption to staff, pupils and school activities.
Whilst on site, we created a hand-made mud kitchen for the pupils to enjoy, encouraging the children to interact with their natural environment and stimulating imaginative play.
The new modular building now provides a modern and bright learning environment for children to learn and grow and was completed on time ready for the start of the new school term in September 2022.
